William Carey Hughes wrote on Big Big Train's wall: Are there any songs (prog or not) where you prefer either a specific live version or just live versions in general to the studio version? I can think of several off the top of my head: * The Who, "A Quick One While He's Away"--maybe it's because I'd already essentially memorized the Leeds version before picking up the "A Quick One" album, but the studio version's always seemed kind of wimpy and has an almost demoish quality to my ears. They improved on it massively live by adding some guitar cru... (5 comments)

William Carey Hughes wrote on Big Big Train's wall: I got new speakers for my birthday recently and am listening to "Tales from Topographic Oceans" on them for the first time--what a revelation! I'm the sure the latter would be less likely, but it would just be amazing to have all the BBT material in matching/similar cases, looking beautiful and sounding amazing all together!

William Carey Hughes wrote on Big Big Train's wall: Are there any musicians who's public persona or reputation (fair or not) seems to be completely at odds with their actual personality? For example, it's always seemed to me that people view Rick Wakeman as a pretentious, stuffy guy with a huge ego and his head up his ass, but in every interview I've read with him (granted, these are all recent, he might have been more arrogant in the 70s) he comes off as a really funny, down-to-earth guy who just makes the music that he wants to make without wor...
