Andy is a native Bournemouthian who grew up on 70's progressive rock and started collaborating musically with Ian Cooper at the age of 16. The results were experimental synthesizer based pieces in the vein of Tangerine Dream and Ultravox.
He met Greg, a then fresh faced graduate, in 1988 and the two had very similar prog based musical interests. After completing several tentative compositions together, Ian was introduced and the three were named Big Big Train in 1990.
Ian, the technical one, became semi detached from the band in 1994 and so Andy, the bass player, adopted the technical bit. Home based recordings, were subsequently engineered by Andy who also fulfilled album production duties.
His currently favoured off duty listening includes: The Mars Volta, Elvis Costello, Radiohead, Chet Baker, Francis Dunnery, Steely Dan, Ben Christophers and Tom Waits.
